WESTSIDE JUNIOR BASKETBALL

The Woodville District Basketball Club's development pathway is through the Westside Basketball Club. 

Woodville District Basketball Club is proud to be one of the four founding district clubs behind the launch of the Adelaide Junior Basketball League (AJBL)– a true league for junior players right here in Adelaide.

This league is a gamechanger, providing opportunities for young athletes who may or may not have had the chance to play district basketball. It’s a key initiative within Woodville’s 4-Year Strategic Plan, designed to develop our juniors’ skills and create a clear, structured pathway from domestic basketball into district basketball.

As part of this exciting change, the Westside Basketball Association has changed it's name to Westside Basketball Club – officially becoming the true pathway feeder club from domestic basketball into the Woodville District Basketball Club.

Our competition is aimed at players who are just starting basketball, players who want to improve their basketball skills and players who want to get more exposure to match play in a fun and competitive environment.

The Westside Basketball Club is a coordinated introductory program covering all children and schools across the western suburbs. 

We aim to:

• have development programs to improve each child's confidence and abilities
• caters for all junior age groups, genders, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds to have the opportunity to be involved with the game of basketball
• have a strong local area competition that enables regular participation and development opportunities in a game setting for participants who do not yet have District Basketball skills or ambitions
• provides a pathway between entry programs and the District level of basketball
• offers an alternative level of commitment to District Basketball when the training sessions, travelling to other basketball stadiums and expenditure of District basketball may not suit all families

Competition

Westside Junior Basketball is played at several stadiums across Western Adelaide on a Saturday during school terms.

The Lights Community Centre, 244-270 East Parkway, Lightsview

Port Adelaide Basketball Centre, 50 St. Vincent Street, Port Adelaide 

Roma Mitchell Secondary College, Briens Road, Gepps Cross

St Michael’s College – Junior Campus, 78 East Avenue, Beverly

Players can join a team at any time during the season providing there is space available in a team.  If there is no positions in a team, we offer a training only option.

Sunday training sessions are available for players who want to learn the fundamentals of basketball and improve their skills.

Age Divisions 

We accept registrations for U8 to U18 age divisions.

No player can turn the age of the competition – summer age cut off before 1st May 2026. Winter  age cut off before 1st October 2026.      

Fees

There is a weekly team game fee of $74 on Saturday prior to the game. This fee is divided by the number of players in the team.

Westside registration is $265 per season - sports vouchers accepted

Coaches discount is available

Insurance and Levies

All players are required to pay the yearly Basketball SA Affiliation fee as this covers your insurance whilst playing and training. The insurance is paid when you register to play.

All players are required to pay the yearly AJBL affiliation fee.

Season Dates  - Winter 2026

The season commences on the 2nd May 2026 

The season ends on the 5th September 2026.

Finals are held for U12 - U18 age divisions.

Grand Finals will be on the 19th September  2026.

* No games or training  are scheduled on long weekends or during school holidays*

Games

Games will be played Saturdays 

U8's  8:45am to 10:00am

U10's  10:00am to 12:00pm 

U12's  11:00pm to 2:00pm

U14's  12:00pm to 3:00pm 

U16's  3:00pm to 4:00pm

U18's  3:00pm to 5:00pm 

Times are a guide only and may differ depending on team numbers and court availability

Training

Trainings are held on a Sunday at Whitefriars Catholic School, 45 Beaufort Street, Woodville Park - Subject to change

10am – 11am -  U10

11am-12pm   -  U12

12pm – 1pm -  U14

1pm - 2pm   -  U16

2pm - 3pm   - U18

Coaches

As this is a doestic competition We request parents to assist our teams with coaching and/or Managing.

No experience is necessary, and guidance can be given if needed.

All coaches are required to hold a current working with children's card

Discounted fees are available for coaches so please apply.

Uniform

  Numbers are allocated to new players by the Club. Numbers must be allocated prior to uniforms being ordered. Westside Basketball Club apply the ruling of even years equals even numbers and odd years equals odd numbers based on your birth year. This process will avoid players in the same age group being allocated the same number.

Contact admin@westsidebball.com.au for the allocation of player numbers providing the player’s full name, age group (e.g., Under 16 boys, Under 12 girls) and date of birth. You can request 3 preferences; however, this is not guaranteed. A number will be provided within a reasonable time frame.

Once player number has been allocated uniform can be purchased from Sport Centre through their website or in store at 749 Port Road, Woodville South.

All players are required to purchase a red and yellow reversible playing singlet. 

Black shorts to be purchased yourself/ Shorts must not have pockets. 

If you are having difficulties getting a uniform before the first game, please contact Sports Centre, they hold loan uniforms.

• ▪ Items can take up to 8 weeks for delivery. Occasional delays in delivery may occur due to circumstances beyond the control of the Westside and the Westside cannot be held liable for these delays.
